Der Bodhisatta geboren als der König of Benares. He was the Sohn von Janasandha (auch called Dasaratha), und because seinface was resplendent mit beauty like a well-polished golden mirror, he was called ādāsamukha. His Vater died when he was sieben Jahre old, und the courtiers tested the boy in various ways before crowning ihm König.
Reports of seinwisdom soon spread abroad und once, when an old servant of sein father's (Gāmani Canda) was being brought to the court to answer various charges, vierzehn problems were entrusted to ihm by different inhabitants of the Königreich to be placed before der König for solution. Der König solved them all und ruled righteously.
Die Geschichte is given in the Gāmani Canda Jātaka. J.ii.297-310.
