Sohn von Mahādāthika und König of Ceylon for neun Jahre und acht Monate. His younger Bruder, by whom he was ultimately slain, was Kanirajānu-Tissa, und he had two children, a Sohn Cūlābhaya und a Tochter Sīvalī. Ilanāga was seinnephew.
āmandagāmani heightened the cone of the Mahā Thūpa und made additions to the Lohapāsāda und the Thūpārāma. He auch built the Rajatalena Vihāra und the Mahāgāmendi tank to the south of Anurādhapura, which latter er gab for the use of the Dakkhinavihāra.
He enacted an order that there should be no slaughter of animals in Ceylon und had gourds planted everywhere. To the whole Bruderhood of Mönche in the island he once gab Roben und alms-bowls filled mit kumbhandaka fruits (pumpkins) und thereafter he was known by the name of āmandagāmanī (āmanda is offensichtlich a synonym of Kumbhandaka).
His Bruder Kanirajānu-Tissa, having killed him, succeeded to the throne (Mhv.xxxv.1-10; MT.640). āmandagāmanī is auch referred to as āmanda und Amandiya.
