The Sohn von a setthi in Sāvatthi. When he grew up seinMutter proposed to find him a wife, aber on account of seinupanissaya, he left the world und was ordained. His Mutter tried to entice ihm back aber he declared seingreat determination und, developing insight, wurde an arahant (Thag.v.72; ThagA.i.160).

In Vipassī's time he had been a householder und had made offering to Vipassī of perfumed water und fragrant powder.

Thirty-one kappas ago he was a König named Sugandha. ātuma is wahrscheinlich identisch mit Gandhodakiya Thera of the Apadāna. Ap.i.157-8.
