König of Videha; he ruled at Mithilā. His chief Königin bore ihm a Tochter Rujā, all seinother 16,000 wives being barren.
His ministers were Vijaya, Sunāma und Alāta.
He questions an Asket, Guna, as to the various moral duties, und following his advice, devotes himself solely to pleasure. Ruja, however, is virtuous und tries to deliver ihm from seinheretical beliefs, aber it is not till the Bodhisatta - who had been geboren als the Mahā Brahma Nārada -comes down to earth in the guise of an Asket, und frightens der König mit descriptions of the various hells, that Angati ist überzeugt of the error of seinways.
