A branch of knowledge, dabbling in which is forbidden to Mönche (Sn.vs.927).
When spoken in conjunction mit the drei Vedas, it is erwähnt as a fourth branch of Veda mit itihāsa as the fifth (DA.i.247).
It is explained as āthabbanika-manta-payoga (the trade of the wonder-workers). SnA.ii.564.
