Der Bodhisatta war einmal geboren als a very wealthy setthi in Benares. He had a Sohn who, when nur sieben Jahre old, showed great intelligence und anxiety for sein own spiritual welfare. One day the boy asked his Vater which were the paths leading to welfare und on being told them he followed their teaching.
Die Geschichte was told in reference to a similar child, the Sohn von a wealthy setthi of Sāvatthi. The Vater, not being able to answer the boy's questions, took ihm to der Buddha at Jetavana. J.i.366-7.
