An Elder who lebte in Kassakalena. In sein begging village was an upāsikā who looked after ihm like her own son. One day the Elder, while on sein begging rounds, heard her giving orders to her Tochter bezüglich sein food. He realised that the woman was undergoing great privations in order to provide ihm mit luxuries, und feeling that he was unworthy of such attention, went back to Kassakalena und sat down on sein couch, determined not to rise till he had become an arahant. During the night sein object was achieved und the deva in the cave uttered sein praise in song. The following morning he went as usual for sein alms und the upāsikā knew that he had realised sein quest (DA.iii.790-1).

He is auch called Mahāmitta. VbhA.279.
