Once, when Mahā Kassapa was at Veluvana in Rājagaha, Ananda returned from a tour in the Dakkhināgiri, mit thirty Mönche, mostly youths. They were ill-behaved, und Kassapa blamed Ananda for going about mit them, calling ihm "corn-tramper," "despoiler of families," und, finally, "a boy." Ananda gently reminded ihm that being grey-haired he could hardly be called a boy, aber Kassapa refused to listen. Thulla-Nandā, hearing of this, vented her displeasure on Kassapa by reminding ihm that he war einmal a heretical teacher. Kassapa there-upon remonstrated mit Ananda, pointing out that he was a very devoted follower und pupil of der Buddha und relating how, on one occasion, der Buddha accepted from ihm the gift of sein soft robe, giving him, in return, der Buddha's rag-robe. Well might he, he said, claim to be a real Sohn von der Buddha. S.1217ff
