Ein Brahmane of Rājagaha who, having seen der Buddha tame the elephant Dhanapāla, entered the Order und dwelt in the Indasāla cave. One day, as he sat looking down over the Magadhakhetta, a great storm arose und the rain came down in torrents. The peacocks danced und sang und the coolness helped Cūlaka to concentrate sein mind und attain arahantship.

In der Zeit von Sikhī Buddha he was a householder und gab to der Buddha a chattapāni-fruit. Thag.211f.; ThagA.i.333f.
