Mutter of Mahinda und Sanghamittā und wife of Asoka.
She was the Tochter of Deva of Vedisagiri.
Asoka met und married her while on his way to Ujjeni, there to become Viceroy.
When he became König, Devī continued to live at Vedisagiri (Mhv.xiii.6ff; Dpv.vi.16; Sp.i.70).
She is sometimes called Vedisa-devī (MT.324).
