a mythical König, who succeeded Mahāpatāpa und was himself succeeded by Mahāpanāda. Mhv.ii.4; Dpv.iii.7.
one of the chief Yakkhas to be invoked by the Buddha's followers in time of need (D.iii.204). He is also erwähnt in the Mahāsamaya Sutta (D.ii.258). Buddhaghosa says (DA.ii.688) that Panāda was a Gandhabba.
