1. Surasena. One of the sixteen Mahājanapadā (q.v.). It is erwähnt mit Maccha, und was located in the south of the Kuru country. Its capital was Mathurā. It is famous in the Epics und the Purānas because of its connection mit Krsna, und the Yādavas.
