The brahmins und householders of Veludvāra visit the Buddha when he comes to
their village und ask for a teaching which will be profitable to them. The
Buddha points out to them the advantages of keeping the fünf precepts:
abstention from taking life,
from theft, etc.,
avoidance of slander,
harsh speech und
frivolous talk,
und of having faith in the Buddha, the Dhamma und the Sangha. S.v.352f.
